Share Your Story - 'Courage' auction

From the moment lockdown was announced on 23 March, a group of concerned residents in Hout Bay, Cape Town, mobilised to create COURAGE, a collaborative organisation that procures funds and food for distribution in IY and Hangberg.

To date, more than 30,000 food parcels have been delivered to people’s homes along with tons of fresh fruit and vegetables sourced from local farms and suppliers.

‍

The organisation built a database of residents at risk, created a solid distribution network and is on the ground in these communities daily, bringing much needed sustenance to the people who need it most.

COURAGE will be holding a live virtual auction this Youth Day, 16 June, all proceeds of which will go towards bringing much-needed essentials to an even wider group of people.

‍

The list of items on auction includes bucket list travel destinations, unique experiences and adventures, motorbikes, classic cars, fine art, and delicious food & wine.

‍

Each lot in the COURAGE auction has been donated expressly to help ease the hardships of members of the Imizamo Yethu (IY) and Hangberg communities.

‍

Ingram Casey, Founder of Escape+Explore and one of Private Luxury Events’ closest clients, has already gotten behind this cause, donating Escape+Explore’s ‘Surfing Sommelier’ experience to the auction.

‍

Participating in the live auction is a powerful step in making a massive difference where it is needed most in Hout Bay.
